1969 – 1992 war sie Baritonsaxophonistin im Raschèr-Saxophon-Quartett und konzertierte weltweit. Durch ihre Begegnung mit zahlreichen Komponisten wurde das Baritonsaxophon als Soloinstrument anerkannten 

1990 gründete sie mit anderen Musikern das Süddeutsche Saxophon-Kammerorchester. Linda Bangs Urban spielte mehr als 200 Premieren, als Solistin, Dirigentin oder Ensemblemitglied. Sie wirkte bei zahlreichen CDs und Rundfunkaufnahmen mit. 

Sie übt eine Lehrtätigkeit an der Akademie für Tonkunst der Stadt Darmstadt und an der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz aus. Weiterhin ist sie eine gefragte Dozentin bei Workshops und Meisterkursen in Europa und den USA.

Linda Bangs-Urban was born in Waverly (New York) and studied saxophone with Laurence Wyman at the State University of New York. She was a pupil of Sigurd Raschèr.

Between 1969 and 1992 she played baritone saxophone in the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet all over the world. Thanks to her contacts with numerous composers, the baritone saxophone has become recognised as a solo instrument

In 1990, she and other musicians founded the South German Saxophone Chamber Orchestra. Linda Bangs-Urban has played over 200 premieres, either as a soloist, conductor or ensemble musician, and has been involved in the production of many CDs and radio recordings.

She teaches at the City Academy of Music in Darmstadt and the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. She is still much in demand as a tutor at workshops and master classes in Europe and the USA
